BIOGRAPHY
Vinayak Pol is a distinguished drummer and percussionist based in Mumbai, India, renowned for his versatility across genres such as jazz, rock fusion, and world music. With over two decades of experience, he has significantly contributed to both the Bollywood and independent music scenes. His musical journey began in his late teens, and he has since collaborated with a diverse array of artists and bands, including Louie Banks, Rahul Sharma, Niladri Kumar, RAF (Rakesh Chaurasia), Aman Ayaan, Pulse Conversations, Sunidhi Chauhan, and Amit Trivedi.
In 2008, Vinayak co-founded Pulse Conversations, a trio featuring fellow drummers Gino Banks and Jai Row Kavi. This innovative project showcased their collective drumming prowess and received acclaim for its dynamic performances across India. Later, he established the Vinayak Pol Jazz & Fusion Collective, which evolved into the band Bombay Lights. This ensemble blends jazz with Indian classical music, featuring Niranjan Joshi on keys, Umesh Warbhuvan on percussion, Sayar Mitra on bass, Omkar Dhumal on shehnai and saxophone, and vocalist Nusrat Apoorv, who also plays santoor and harmonium.
Beyond performing, Vinayak is dedicated to music education. He has taught at the Garodia Institute alongside Gino Banks and Andrew Kanga, focusing on tailoring lessons to each student's unique musical background. He also offers private lessons at his studio, nurturing the next generation of drummers.
